In other topics an SQL query to update all forums has been posted allready:

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_forums SET forum_flags = forum_flags | 16 WHERE forum_type < 2;
Oh, thank you very much for posting that!

Re: 3.0.5 to 3.0.6 View Active Topics not working

I cannot get the 'view active topics' to work. I have switched all the forums on, which tells me that all the subforums in that category will be switched on, all to no avail.

Only for forums are indicated, when 'view active topics' is selected by members and they are becoming frustrated, as am I.

Do I have to sub,mit the code, as quoted earlier, to get this to work?

I am running version 3.0.6

This doesn't answer your original question, but I noticed another problem on your board.
All the forums in the "SMALLHOLDER AT THE POULTRY GARDEN" category have a faulty forum image attached.

This will have been caused by Firefox auto-filling your username into the "Forum image" field when you were editing those forum settings.
Go back to the forum settings page, and remove "Administrator" from the Forum image field for each of those forums.

You probably misunderstood. Setting the witch to "yes" on the "Category" will not automatically place all subforums to "Yes". It is just a main switch to be able to enable/disable view active topics for all subforums in that category. Still you have to set "View active topics" for every (sub)forum.
The SQL query will help you to enable view active topics for every forum on your board.

Thanks for that. I knew that there was a problem with this and noticed when I had to change the other forums last night, in the 'view active topics' matter, but didn't know why the smallholder board was wrong and yes, I always use Firefox, so many thanks indeed. I will rectify that one today.

Thank you. I willl try to work through what you have suggested and ask the server admin to insert the query for us.

Thanks for all of your help, both.

I had this problem too.

But can anyone explain when to use this "Active topic" feature. When can it be useful? Is it destined to show all topic by pressing only one link as some kind of shortcut? When messages disapear from that place?

This is what I had to do. Thanks for the tip. I went from .5 to 3.0.8 and had this problem.

With :

Code: Select all

UPDATE phpbb_forums SET forum_flags = forum_flags | 16 WHERE forum_type < 2;
It will enable active topics on all forums and categories?
